Morgan Freeman's brilliant take on what happened yesterday : Connecticut Shooting

Morgan Freeman's brilliant take on what happened yesterday :

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media
reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

Carnapping caught on a security camera in a parking lot

Caught on a security camera in a parking lot . WATCH THIS - ONLY A FEW SECONDS

Make sure your wife, husband, TEENAGERS, and all you friends see this! No sound, just watch. You will be flabbergasted. Okay, I think both men AND women should be aware of this. It COULD have happened to anyone of us. If you notice he got away with her car, purse, and keys without touching her . . . Worst of all, she couldn't even give a description of the person to the police (thankfully there wasn't a child in the car.) I hate to admit it, but I could see myself doing exactly what she did. I'm glad I saw this video.

There are still Good People.... New York Cop Gives Boots to Shoe less Man

Jennifer Foster of Florence, AZ was visiting Times Square with her husband Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. She writes, “Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put
socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.”
Our thanks to the Fosters for their attention and appreciation, and especially to this officer, who remains anonymous.

Stop Bullying AMALAYER Girl.. Stupid Cyber Bullies

To my friends and the beloved public, please read this.

This #AMALAYER bullshit is being blown out of proportion. Reading the comments/tweets/insults makes me more sick that the video itself. We can do better than this.

Is the Filipino social media identity a short-tempered angry mob rather than a pool of informed citizens? Are we supposed to expect to see shit like this every now and then? Wh
at's next: TV show na may Suntukan segment against Claudine Barreto? I bet everyone would want that.

The video is simply a mirror to our (westernized) society (disregard the fact that I saw four BIG ASS Bench billboards of four Korean men/boys (idk) in EDSA-Guadalupe tanginang yan)

Think about it these few points.

1. She's rude. SO-FUCKING-WHAT?!
Oh no! May bad manners siya. BIG DEAL.

She’s rude and annoying and dumb enough to do it in front of a camera. She's just having a bad day like we all normally do. She doesn’t deserve all the cyberbullying and death threats. You simply don’t know how it feels.

I'm rude. You are rude. Filipino drivers ARE rude. People who violently push and curse their way inside the train are rude. Taxi drivers who pick their passengers are rude. Your governor is rude. Those who murdered of the FOI bill are fucking rude. The MMDA who just asked for a bribe is rude. Society who cyberbullied the fuck out of a law student who was "not informed" of the flood is rude as well as those who bombarded a bully of a Sotto critic with death threats.

Rude has become a norm for Filipinos. We have accepted it. Then suddenly, thanks to a video, we act as if we are all saints.

Condemning someone who can’t say "I'm a liar?" IS RUDE AND ARROGANT. So what kung kupal siya? Ngayon lang kayo nakakita ng kupal on video? Mas kupal yung mob behavior. Kitang kita ang Filipino humility, courtesy and tolerance sa posts niyo. Nakakatawa.

2. I read a comment "Kayo ang yayabang niyo, kala niyo naman gagaling niyo mag-ingles." The reply goes "tara english tayo ano?! I'll destroy you dipshit" (or something like that)

Is English the standard for intellect? Is the English language the barrier of classes?

The answer is this paraphrased comment: “OMG! My driver speaks better English than her! She has no right to boast anything!”

3. "I just hate how she acted like that" (quoted from a comment)
Like what exactly? Like the bratty blond Hollywood personalities that we have celebrated?

We have westernized the shit out of our society; don’t act surprise when we see the result.

4. What if:
Replace the guard with a male guard. Replace the girl with a foreign woman - lets say an attractive blonde woman shouting in her British accent.

Will it be viral? Yes. Who will get the sympathy? The woman was just "harassed by the guard"

But the guard probably wouldn't even touch her because he/she would be friggin scared of the almighty westerners. All hail the whites!

You may now proceed on buying Lactacyd Intimate White™ and naming all movies in cheesy English phrases.

5. If this is "The Power of Social Media" according to some blogs/articles, then this means we are as trivial as our TV shows. If this is us being a public eye or a watch dog, then we have failed as a society. We try to move forward but we do things that will lag us. Tangina ang babaw kaya. Ganun na ba tayo na-brainwashed ng sensationalized local programming?

TL;DR - - I'D RATHER BE A RUDE, BITCHY, AND ARROGANT PERSON (who sometimes loses his cool in public) THAN A TRIVIAL-MINDED SELF-RIGHTEOUS HYPOCRITE WHO SHAMES, BULLIES AND EXPELS PEOPLE WITH LITTLE BASIS. (heard she got expelled from her school - some comments are DEMANDING her to be expelled – what offense? Why!? IDK probably "Not speaking proper english during a breakdown bringing shame to our humble institution” that’s why)

We are hypocrites and we are rude to our own nation.

The World's Largest Gummy Bear for Sale!

MANUEL AMALILIO: Suspected mastermind in 12 billion Aman Futures Scam disappears.

A company managed by a former janitor and driver, and founded just early this year, has duped at least 15,000 people in Mindanao and the Visayas of P12 billion in a pyramid scam, an official of the National Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday.
The NBI identified the company as Aman Futures Group Phils. Inc.
“Some of the victims committed suicide and others have become violent and sick when they learned their hard-earned money was gone,” said Virgilio Mendez, NBI deputy director for regional operations services, who was investigating the scam.
Among Aman Futures’ victims were local politicians, police and military personnel, government workers, market vendors, farmers, drivers, retired employees and overseas Filipino workers, according to Mendez.
He said the number of “complainants from across the country is piling up.”
Mendez said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima had ordered the NBI to file estafa cases against executives and directors of Aman Futures namely Manuel K. Amalilio, Fernando “Nonoy” R. Luna, Lelian Lim Gan, Edward L. Lim, William L. Fuentes, Naezelle M. Rodriguez and Lurix Lopez.
High return
The first investors of the company were low-income people but professionals and retired employees followed because of the promise of a high return on investment, Mendez said.

“The first clients of Aman Futures were market vendors in Pagadian City who invested P1,000 with a 70-percent return after one week,” he said.
The NBI deputy director said Luna, who managed the multibillion scam, “is a former driver and utility person for a company located near the Pagadian City public market.”
Luna’s boss, Amalilio, is a 32-year-old Malaysian, whose Malaysian name is Mohammad Suffian Saaid. His wife is identified as Abigail Pendulas, and they have two children, ages 2 and 1.
Luna and Amalilio and their families are now in hiding, according to Mendez.
Private planes
The NBI official said Amalilio  reportedly owned three private planes and two units at Upper Mckinley Hills Garden Villas in Taguig City. He also owns a house in Cebu City and Dapitan City.
“He visits his offices in Mindanao and Visayas using private planes and luxury cars,” Mendez said.
He said Aman Futures was able to lure investors by offering a 30-percent to 40-percent return on investment within eight days, and a 50-percent to 80-percent profit for 18 to 20 days.
“The amount of interest varies depending on the investment or money placements,” Mendez said.
Modus operandi
He said the modus operandi of Aman Futures was to offer a return through a postdated check of the entire sum of the investment plus a profit up to 80 percent.
“Because of the huge interest, the number of investors of Aman Futures increased tremendously,” Mendez said.
Due to its success in Pagadian City, Aman Futures expanded its business to other cities and provinces like Lanao del Sur and Zamboanga in Mindanao and to Cebu City, he said.
Lands, houses mortgaged
With the huge increase in the number of investors, Aman Futures  raised its required minimum investment from P1,000 to  P200,000,” Mendez said.
“And in order to meet the new requirement, investors pooled their resources and others mortgaged lands and houses to comply with the requirement,” Mendez said.
He said investors started lining up at 2 in the morning although the office of Aman Futures Group had yet to open at 8 a.m.
No queues for VIPS
Every day, some 3,000 people were lining up at the office of Aman Futures in Pagadian City. “But VIPs were not required to fall in line and could deal directly with Luna,” Mendez said.
“The complainants said at the beginning that they thought they could realize their dreams to own cars and expensive things by making more investments in Aman Futures,” Mendez said.
He said the victims trusted Aman Futures largely because of endorsements from local officials.
“They trusted Aman Futures because even local government officials had openly endorsed it and admitted to have invested also,” Mendez explained.
Mendez said the NBI had received reports that government funds could have been used to invest in Aman Futures.
“We are currently investigating if government funds were used by local officials who invested in the scam,” Mendez said.
He declined to name the officials, but said charges would be filed against these officials should they be found to have used public funds.
Mendez said investors had started filing complaints in the NBI against Aman Futures in September for its failure to pay back their money.
Bouncing checks
At first, the victims could receive cash by just showing their official receipts. But later, investors were issued postdated checks with a 50-day maturity date in lieu of cash.
“But the checks issued by Aman Futures started to bounce and the account was eventually closed,” Mendez said.
Mendez said some victims had resorted to burning the houses of relatives of Aman Futures employees. “So far, two houses of Luna’s relatives were torched by victims who demanded they return their money,” he said.
Mendez said that complainants had been going to Keppel Building in the Cebu City Business Park office of Aman Futures, registered under another name, FRETZ and Sha Trading.
In Lanao del Sur, Mendez said, Aman Futures used another name, Jachob Amer Rasunan Co.

DataBlitz VS XPlay

To Our Beloved Gaming Community & Friends,

Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, will be remembered as a day of infamy and shame for the gaming industry with XPlay initiating a disgraceful harassment action against DataBlitz for alleged selling of "unauthorized" stocks of NBA 2K13.

Yesterday, XPlay released an official statement listing down various details of meetings between XPlay and DataBlitz in the weeks leading to the launch of NBA 2K13. In spite of all that's been said in their press release, they've conveniently omitted the most pertinent details:

1. All the meetings that took place between Xplay and DataBlitz were initiated at the request of XPlay. DataBlitz has never asked to meet with XPlay and were only asked to participate in meetings and/or to join XPlay's so-called "marketing programs" (which are really nothing more than just glamorized parlor game events). DataBlitz participated in the meetings and "marketing programs" out of courtesy to XPlay and no such thing as "primary partnership", whatsoever was ever discussed, offered, nor penned on paper, whatsoever.

2. Apart from just saying that they will be distributing NBA 2K13, XPlay has never indicated in any form of writing or communications whatsoever to DataBlitz that they are the exclusive distributor of the game.

3. Thirdly, and this is the most important and glaring omission in XPlay's press release: in spite of the above, the fact is that DataBlitz still went ahead and purchased a considerable quantity of NBA 2K13 stocks from XPlay as a gesture of goodwill towards XPlay, even knowing that they are still very new to the industry of console games, without any proven track record whatsoever to speak of along this front.

However, it is the understanding of DataBlitz that XPlay is just another reseller of the game, and as we still live in a free country the last time we checked, DataBlitz reserves its right to buy stocks of the game from other sources, apart from XPlay, so long as these are legitimate, genuine, brand-new, original games, that are and always have been the hallmark of our product offerings to our customers.

DataBlitz has been in the gaming industry for over 17 years now, and our record speaks for itself, we have always maintained a pristine reputation as the one reliable source for original and genuine games at reasonable prices. From the very beginning when piracy dominated the market 17 years ago and up to this day that we have been able to steadily educate our consumers (without harassing anyone) about buying and patronizing original games and software, we have remained steadfast in our core belief of looking after the welfare of the gaming public first and foremost.

If there suddenly are now parties out there who see the vibrancy of the gaming industry as a way to profit immensely by using sham claims of being the only party that possesses "authorized" stocks (whatever that means) in order to shove overpriced games down the throats of the gaming public, this kind of modus is just against the core principles of DataBlitz and something we just cannot and will not go along with.

At the end of the day, we have the welfare of our customers at heart, not the twisted desires of these opportunists. Even if it means this will be a lonely battle, as Monday's events have shown that we were very obviously the only one unjustly and unreasonably singled out, we shall always remain as the one beacon of light and hope for gamers everywhere and carry on the good fight to stop such forms of profiteering through harassment.

Lamination of voter's IDs is free of charge

Things really are tough all over, as, according to reports received by the Commission on Elections, some election officers are trying to make an extra buck by charging new registrants for the lamination of their brand new voter's identification cards.

And, as it turns out, it is as hinky as it sounds.

"Warning lang sa aming election ofiers, naniningil raw ng laminations ng voter's ID. Bawal 'yun!" Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said  Wednesday.

"Libre po 'yung (lamination) ng voter's ID," he added.

Brillantes warned election officers that they face getting sacked if they are caught charging registrants for the lamination.

The registration of voters for the 2013 midterm elections will end on October 31. — DVM, GMA News

Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki now bankrupt

Robert Kiyosaki, author of the bestselling Rich, Dad, Poor Dad series of financial advice books, is offering his fans yet another lesson in how the rich are different than you and me: they file for bankruptcy not because of ill health or unemployment related issues, but instead as a strategic business move.

Rich Global LLC, one of the corporate arms Kiyosaki has done business under, filed for bankruptcy protection in August, after it was ordered to pay just under $24 million to the Learning Annex and its chairman Bill Zanker.

Kiyosaki was one of the small-time wealth guru mountebanks who made it to the big-time in the aughts by telling his forever falling behind audience that they could get ahead, they just had not learned how. The schtick behind the Rich Dad books was that Kiyosaki was sharing secret money-making strategies of the wealthy with his wage slave readers. The tips ran the gamut from ridiculous to illegal and downright hurtful and included advocating for insider trading,  arguing for the purchase of multiple real estate properties with little or no money down and telling followers they could purchase stocks on margin via unfunded brokerage accounts.

The Learning Annex was one of Kiyosaki's earliest backers, and helped arrange a number of his most prominent speaking gigs in the early aughts. They were not alone. Oprah Winfrey had him on her show, and PBS ran his programming during their fundraising weeks.
So how did Kiyosaki, whom the website Celebrity Net Worth estimates is worth a cool $80 million, come to this pass?

Well, he didn't come to any pass. He now conducts much of his business not via Rich Global LLC but under the rubrik Rich Dad Co. And it's a corporate bankruptcy, not a personal bankruptcy. When the New York Post, which broke the story, tracked down Mike Sullivan, Rich Dad Co. CEO, he informed them that Kiyosaki would not be putting any of his personal fortune toward the settlement. As for Rich Global, Sullivan claimed it only had a few million in its coffers.

Of course, you could argue that Learning Annex CEO Zanker should have known better. No one has ever proven that Rich Dad, the man who supposedly gave Kiyosaki all his advice for wealthy living, ever existed. Nor has anyone ever documented any vast reserves of wealth earned by Kiyosaki prior to the publication of Rich Dad, Poor Dad in 1997.
