Andy Lau to Star in Iron Man 3 with Robert Downey Jr.
Hong Kong Film Award winner Andy Lau is said to be joining the production of "Iron Man 3" which will be shot in China, according to AsiaOne.
There are rumours that Lau would be playing one of Iron Man's major foes called The Mandarin, for which the comics describe as an evil Chinese warlord with 10 magical rings planning to take over the world with ancient magic from China.
However, recent reports announced that it would be inappropriate for the 50-year-old Chinese actor to play villain as the movie would be a huge collaboration between Walt Disney Co and Beijing-based DMG Entertainment.
Therefore to insert some positivity on the collaboration, Lau will most likely take up a different role as a scientist from the Chinese technology sector who is also an old friend of protagonist Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.).
If Lau is confirmed to play a part in the superhero franchise, he will be joining a group of stellar cast including Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Academy award winner Ben Kingsley and "Lockout" star Guy Pearce.
