London ice cream parlor Covent Garden has started selling ice cream made of human breast milk mixed with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest, reports the Guardian. The milk comes from women who are paid £15 (about P1,000) for every 10 ounces of their breast milk. These women are required to undergo health screenings first, according to the company.
At £14 (about P1,000) per serving, the ice cream named "Baby Gaga" is presented in a martini glass. Using a syringe, liquid nitrogen is also poured into the glass.
The "organic, free-range and totally natural" product sold out when it launched on Friday, Covent Garden told the Guardian.
"The response has been amazing. People at first say it's disgusting because it's a bodily fluid, but so is cow's milk... People love it when they try it," Covent Garden owner Matt O'Connor said.
Victoria Hiley, one of the donors based in London, told BBC, "What's the harm in using my assets for a bit of extra cash? I teach women how to get started on breastfeeding their babies. There's very little support for women and every little helps."
--- Wow! I wonder what human breast milk ice cream taste like? hmmm... maybe we should ask the babies. =D hahaha
